Dad

Yesterday was my father's birthday.

He is not just a father. He is an artist. He is a businessman. He is an athlete. He is a photographer. He is seeker of knowledge. He is curious. He is an inspiration. He is all these things but mostly he is a really good dad.

He is the type of man that I strive to be.

He supports our family without fail offering a strong, caring and resolute base that has saved the rest of us over and over again. When I have made big life choices, he has supported my decisions, even if they were not the ones that he would make.

We don't always see eye to eye on the issues but he has the ability and willingness to listen to my opinion. Then we may debate or just agree to disagree. I love him even if he voted for the other guy. :)

He lives far away from me as does the rest of my family, but I speak to him often and I feel like we are closer than ever.

Happy birthday Dad. I hope you had a good day and look forward to the year to come. It's going to be a good one.
