Amazing!

At first I thought it was the same view from an earlier photo but it isn't.

Is it near the other one?

These piles are a few blocks north of the previous one I photographed.

We were walking along and veered onto walkway that actually curved away from the shore over the water. The river's waves were rippling in and the sound of surf lay below our feet.

Corie observed that they looked liked tombstones. Hence the name of the post. The irony is that these piles will be preserved because of the vast amount of life that makes them their home. More about this at a later date.

sounds like time for scuba gear (a really thick wet suit) and an underwater camera. just imagine what crazy little (or maybe big) creatures are living in and around those "tombstones". this site has become my new coffee. can't wait for more.

i would gladly go down there and investigate. But first i would have to learn how to scuba(something I plan to do at some point in my life -- not for the clear waters of a great reef necessarily, but for urban underwater exploration)...then i would need the equipment - scuba and photographic. Any sponsors out there?
