Wine and Oysters
Yesterday, JVG threw the first day of a two day long birthday bash. He was making up for a so-so 30th birthday with a spectacular 31st. I love the sentiment.
Although I missed the morning(Russian baths) and early afternoon activities(shabu-shabu!), I joined JVG, Chris, Karyn and David at a wine tasting. Five dollars got your five tastes.
It was actually a lot of fun, but I probably should have paid more careful attention what I was drinking. I ordered five different Pinots (and no, I did not see Sideways), a couple Chardonays, a Port, a Merlot and a Sparkler. They were all tasty, but I didn't care for the Port that early in the day.
The shop also had a lovable cat named Si.
Then we were off to the Oyster bar at Grand Central. This is a favorite of mine. I love the bustle of the commuters trying to sneak it a cocktail before heading to their homes and spouses in the suburbs. Maggie, Phillip and Rebecca joined us and blue points and beer were consumed by all.
I left before 8:00pm, exhausted and ready for some serious couch cuddling with Corie. God knows how the rest of them did, but the evening(broadway show, dive bar, strip club, etc.) was far from over for JVG. Hope someone had a camera...
