Solo

lexsilo2.IMG_5168.JPG

My job is a little unique. I spend stretches of time by myself on call. I have two phones plugged into the wall and my gear in a neat cluster by the door. On the table, I have my identification card, a wallet, pens, and watch.

When I am not in the field, I log shot footage, take notes on narrative and character development, and consider questions to be posed. I look for what is missing. I look for the story. I also do crossword puzzles from the Miami Herald and the New York Times. I write letters to Corie. Occassionaly if time and circumstances permit, I explore.

What is all comes down to is that I can go through a day without uttering a word to another soul and still somehow maintain a focused at-ready approach to my work. It can be tough, but I also find that I am pretty good at it.

However tomorrow, for the first time since I got here, I get to relax. And in the best sort of way. My dear and terribly missed Corie is visiting. We may even be tourists for a while or we might just stay in and order room service.

The significant thing is that I already have the distinct feeling of wholeness coming over me. Being apart is possible for both of us, but it is much preferable to be together.

I like the picture, too. It looks very sci-fi, like you are a future man.
