Half-Way
Corie visited this weekend. We hung out at my apartment for the most part (with the exception of a nasty foray into a mosquito ambush) enjoying tasty foods, wine, the pool and most of all, each other. And even though I got called to a scene at 2:00am Saturday morning and therefore had little sleep, we had a wonderful time.
This weekend also marks the approximate half-way point of my job out of the city. Simply put, this experience has been satisifying work, but very tough emotionally. I miss my almost wife on a daily basis and the phone calls, emails, letters, and instant messages can never compare with a look in the eye and a held hand.
I think we are through the hardest part. Corie says July always speeds by. We will be meeting up again in Los Angeles, when our respective parents will meet for the first time. And if Corie can't get away from NYC for another brief trip to here (or Memphis...or Dallas...etc), perhaps I will sneak away a day in Brooklyn.
Until then, I will continue to write letters in between working hours and enjoying the memories of when Corie came to me and made this place, so strange still, a home even for a moment.
